  • 1972

    Lehman “Lee” DeShazo learns the ins and outs of the crane industry as an engineer for the iconic P&H.

  • Lee DeShazo founds DESHAZO Crane Company out of his home in Birmingham, Alabama as an engineering and design service.

  • 1981

    Lee DeShazo opens a humble manufacturing facility in the West End industrial sector of Birmingham to begin building the cranes he was designing.

  • 1989

    DESHAZO constructs a 50,000 square foot facility in Alabaster, Alabama with a team of 50 people.

  • We build our first built-up hoist, expanding and elevating the company’s capabilities and reputation.

  • 1996

    The Mitchell family (Mitchell Industries, Inc.) purchases DESHAZO Crane Company.

  • Our operations continue to expand, adding 24,000 square feet to our Alabaster facility.

  • 2003

    After years of providing installation and service through the Alabaster Manufacturing facility, DESHAZO leadership creates the DESHAZO Service Company.

  • The DESHAZO Service Company launches out of northeast Birmingham, serving the surrounding area.

  • 2008

    The DESHAZO Automation division is created in Decatur, Alabama, starting out with over 70 employees and 3 locations.

  • 2010

    To better serve our customers, we combine DESHAZO Service
    Company, DESHAZO Automation, and DESHAZO Crane Company
    into one organization, DESHAZO, LLC.

  • 2011

    We expand our service division footprint outside of central Alabama, opening the Houston service location.

  • 2012

    Our corporate headquarters moves to a 70,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Bessemer, Alabama.

  • A Rebuild Center is added to the Alabaster location,
    providing a dedicated space for crane component rebuild activities
    with the capabilities of new crane production machining in the same
    building, followed by a second rebuild location in Saraland, Alabama
    in 2019.

  • 2022

    DESHAZO acquires Integrated Machinery Solutions (IMS) in Azle, Texas, doubling our engineering and manufacturing resources and enhancing our ability to take on larger, more complex projects.

  • 2024

    We open our first crane fabrication location outside of Alabama, located in Winchester, Kentucky, further expanding our footprint across the nation.

  • The Winchester location adds approximately 45,000 square feet of production space and capability to our offerings.

  • 2025

    Automation Division consolidates all operations and upgrades to a 90,000 sqft facility in Huntsville, AL

Our History

DESHAZO, LLC was founded in 1972 by Lee DeShazo, out of his home in Birmingham, Alabama. Since then, we have grown into a nationwide leader in custom cranes, automation systems, and always-on service.

With over 600 employees across Alabama, Texas, Indiana, Georgia, and North Carolina, 370,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing space in Alabama and Texas, 3 automation facilities, and 35 service locations nationwide, our footprint is built for scale.

Our vertically integrated team includes professional engineers, structural, electrical, and mechanical designers, and over 200 service technicians across the country ready to install, repair, and maintain any make, any model, any time.
