Why Buy a Quality Crane?
There is hardly a tool used in industry that is more indispensable than the overhead crane. That is not to say that every industry uses cranes, but for the ones that do there is a total dependence on the ability of these powerful machines to move raw material and finished goods from one place to another in a manufacturing or distribution facility, and finally out the door. In addition, cranes are used to service the equipment needed to carry on business. A smooth running and reliable crane is the heart of many manufacturing and distribution plants, without which everything would come to a standstill. For those of us who have spent our careers using cranes there is nothing so debilitating, or that makes us as helpless, as having a crane go down. We have seen businesses literally shut down due to a malfunctioning crane. Machines cannot produce parts, goods cannot move, workers are idle, and customers are disappointed.
It stands to reason that, when buying a crane, reliability and quality should be of paramount importance. For you cannot have reliability without quality and vice versa. Not all cranes are created equal and there are specific reasons that some cranes run reliably for many years while others do not. It follows that, over time, an unreliable crane will prove far more costly to a business than the added initial expense of purchasing a high quality crane to begin with. As John Ruskin so aptly wrote, "A thing is worth what it can do for you, not what you choose to pay for it."
